From the Spanish exploration to the Californian Gold Rush, Sacramento has an impressive history. The capital city boasts a plethora of landmarks, parks, and other iconic attractions. As a well-rounded city, Sacramento offer visitors countless options for recreation.
Located 25 miles east of Sacramento, Folsom SRA is situated near the base of the Sierra foothills. The recreation area boasts many activities for campers: hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, water-skiing, and boating. Cyclists also enjoy Folsom SRA’s bicycle path that stretches 32 miles. Downstream from Folsom Lake is the park’s other body of water—Lake Natoma. Here you’ll probably see people on sailboats and kayaks enjoying the summer sun.
Since the summers in Sacramento are generally hot and dry, the park advises you to dress lightly and protect yourself from exposure to the sun. You’ll also want to pack multiple pairs of shoes. Sandals are good for the beach, but you’ll definitely want comfortable shoes when you’re on the trails.
